Coaching focuses on future possibilities, not past mistakes.

There are three general characteristics of world class performers:

  1. They have a passion for their field.
  2. They have deep within them a desire to reach a high level of achievement.
  3. They have the willingness to put the time and effort in to realize world class performance.

Steve Jobs had it. Elon Musk has it. Bill Gates has it. You can have it too. It begins within you. Successful founders have the drive to arrive at a place of excellence. How can you have it?

The heart and soul of the Ken of Zen coaching relationship is performance improvement—better outcomes, consistent results and deeper satisfaction.

It’s built on a simple premise: you got to”be” before you can “do” and “do” before you can have. This means beginning with your unique “why”—your reasons for doing what you do. Consciously knowing what drives your behaviors gives you the psychic fuel to face all challenges within you and without you. Your “why” is the most powerful driver of your success. It is evidenced by your “what” and realized by your “how.” The “what” is what you do to express your “why.” The “how” is your unique methods and behaviors that produce the “what”, your desired outcomes.

This fuels your leadership potential , improves your capacity to influence others and is how great leaders inspire action. It’s at the core of leadership from the inside out. It’s the true source of full engagement rather than compliance. By knowing and living fully in the depths of your “why” you will affect people at the deepest level. You become a person of influence.

The choice is always there to make; to do what we do because we should, have or must do it or do it because we have been inspired to be fully engaged. Carrots and sticks will always be present to some degree. We have duties, obligations and expectations from family, friends, work, church etc. which compel us to act through potential rewards and possible penalties. There is another way. A better way. The way of full engagement.

Three key elements are needed to get and keep you engaged on the path to excellence:

1. Your autonomy must be restored. This means your authority to write and direct your life script has been accepted by you and that you have granted yourself permission to “be” your best self.

2. You must want to get better at something that truly matters to you.

3. And the coup de gras, you must know your why! Once these elements are in place your path to performance improvement becomes a superhighway.

The Ken of Zen coaching model instructs and inspires your imagination to think, act and communicate from the inside out.

The question of potential cannot be ignored. You have talents, abilities, skills and experiences which embody your potential. You’ve accomplished many things but the one thing which eludes you, that one thing that makes your life fulfilled remains just out of reach. Ken of Zen seeks to connect your potential with reality.

Coaching unlocks your potential by helping you to maximize your own performance by building awareness, responsibility and self-belief.

The path starts with moving your good intentions—a possibility waiting to happen—from your head to your heart—where passionate engagement begins the alchemy of thought into form—from a life imagined to a life fully expressed.

“I learned this, at least, by my experiment; that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”

This performance improvement model makes possible your fundamental wish: : “To transform your way of being in the world.”

To accomplish this miracle of transformation requires that we zoom in on the piece of your potential that matters most—the piece which satisfies your highest values, engages your passion, taps your strengths and compels you to a set of sustainable actions.

Together we create a unique blueprint for action—a blueprint for a new experience and a state of readiness which will be validated in the uncompromising reality of everyday life.

This puts to the test both the value and validity of your dreams and answers the most fundamental question: “Does it produce the desired outcomes?”

If not, we look at the feedback, analyze the results, make adjustments and do it again. We persevere until the desired results are achieved or we pivot and try for another outcome. We seek to embody this possibility through practice.

Our Learning Model helps to decide what the next step in the performance improvement process will be. We use this Learning Model to simplify the change process and improve your ability to produce the desired outcomes. The learning model helps to creates Awareness through movement.

It is action that moves you and it is deliberate action that gets you unstuck. Action is applied knowledge without it nothing moves. With deliberate action everything is tested. A link between behaviour, knowledge and results is forged.

Reality is flexible yet unyielding. You owe it to yourself, your family,  your peers and teammates to be your best. Ken of Zen empowers you to be your best and enlightens your path forward.
